Who is responsible for your contractors’ health and safety? When they are working with you, you are both equally responsible. Under HSWA 2015, as a representative of your PCBU, you are legally deemed an “officer” of your organisation and you have a primary duty of care to everyone in your workplace, whether they are your employee or not. You share a duty with your sub-/contractors to consult, co-operate, confirm and monitor each other’s activities.
