Bike About Tours welcomes you and your friends to sunny Hawke's Bay - "New Zealand's cycling capital" with over 180 kms of cycle pathways. Hawke's Bay's climate creates a year round pedal power adventure just for you. Take care, have fun.

Discover Hawke's Bay's unique diversity, fabulous landscapes, along with its best kept secrets that will unfold before your eyes as you cycle the roads, pathways and foreshore of this beautiful region of New Zealand. Our focus is for you to have a fabulous, stress free, fun healthy day cycling or self guided cycling holiday where you connect mind, body and soul as well as experiencing nature at its best. Professionally maintained top of the range bikes include women's, men's & step through bikes, tandems, children's bikes, one wheelers and baby seats.  All adult bikes have panniers, handlebar bags or baskets.

Choose a cycle trail that suits you best, from the Bike About Tours series of landscape rides, wineries rides and water rides.

We cater for individuals, couples, families, cruise ship passengers, groups and conference delegates.

Below are our most popular rides - but more options are available on request..

A very popular family trail cycling the Tutaekuri riverbanks on way to the quaint village of Puketapu.

Optional: Daylight saving excursion from 3 pm to 7 pm.  Stop off and have dinner at the pub!

The terrain is quite flat. Puketapu Loop is 25 km (29 km if you visit Silky Oak Chocolates).

$50 standard bike or $95  electric bike  per person from our base.
$60 standard bike or $105 electric bike accommodation collection and drop off Napier area.
$90 standard bike or $135 electric bike  accommodation collection and drop off Hastings /Havelock North.

Highlights
Church Road winery, Mission Estate winery and Moana Park winery.  Enjoy the quaint Puketapu Village – the  Puketapu Pub is a great place for morning or afternoon teas, lunch or dinner (closed Mon), historic church and Puketapu Park for a ride on the flying fox.  Duke of Gloucester bar and restaurant  -  additional 4 kms to Silky Oak Chocolates.

The handcrafted wines produced from 11 plus wineries have won a multitude of medals and trophies, it is a wine lovers paradise that is full of surprises - enjoy some of New Zealand’s best red and white wines.  Meander along the off road cycle  pathway  enjoying the country setting of this vast grape growing area.

28 kms - Drop of at Pakowhai Park - enjoy cycling Oak Avenue – visit Pask Wines morning tea at the golf course - afternoon collection

Winter hours: Wed to Sun 11 am to 4 pm  - approximately 5 wineries are open  

Winter hours: Some wineries are open 7 days -  others closed during the winter months

Highlights
This wine growing area is situated west of Hastings, famous for its deep gravelly soils laid down by the old Ngaruroro River after the huge flood in the 1860s. 80% of the land is planted in red grape varieties, the remaining 20% is white grape varieties.

Discover Sileni Estate's unique gourmet cellar, on route you will discover numerous world renowned handcrafted award winning wines at the cellar doors – where you will be welcomed by passionate, enthusiastic staff. A surprise awaits at Abbey Cellars  and Trinity Hill who make beer on site.

Drop off by coach at Sileni Estate, the start of your cycle adventure. Options to visit Alpha Domus, Abbey Cellars, Oak Estate Wines, Ash Ridge Wines, Trinity Hill, Roy's Hill Reserve (cycle to the top of the hill for a panoramic view), Unison vineyard, Stonecroft Wines.  For a longer ride 4 km up the road visit Zeffer Cider or in a different direction 2.8 km Roosters Batch Brewed Beer & Café.

Highlights: Flat terrain and enjoy spectacular coastal views, pathways and estuaries on way to the village of Haumoana.

Options:

8.5 kms Drop off and collection: Black Bridge to road end beside the sea.
14 kms Drop off at Clive cycle to road end            
16.5 km Black Bridge to coastal settlements and back to Black Bridge.
28 kms from Bike About Tours base, cycle one way – joining the Tutaekuri riverbank pathway to Awatoto, turn right and follow the pathway beside the sea to Clive and East Clive to Black Bridge.

Wineries to visit - Beach House Wines, Elephant Hill Estate winery, Clearview winery and Te Awanga Estate. Explore  the village of Te Awanga's numerous art & crafts outlets, ending up at Hygge Café@Clifton Bay at the road end beside the sea. On the way back visit, if you wish, Haumoana Farmyard Zoo.

Very popular scenic ride, the majority is riding the pathways – great water views taking in the river and sea, wineries and cafes and seaside villages.

Option two:  Your choice of where you start from, activities or wineries - Te Mata Mushrooms, Arataki Honey Visitor Centre, Red Barrel winery, Black Barn and Te Mata Estate wineries, cycle the riverbank pathway to Black Bridge, join the Kidnappers Coast pathway and visit Beach House Wines, Elephant Hill winery, Clearview winery and Te Awanga Estate, Hygge Café.
